  1. Face Dances is the ninth studio album by English rock band the Who. It was released in by Warner Bros. in the United States (it was the band's first release on that label) and on Polydor in the United Kingdom. It was one of two Who studio albums with drummer Kenney Jones, who joined the band after Keith Moon's death three years earlier.. Despite mixed reviews from Rolling Stone and other Genre: Rock.

  4. This album was a change of focus for the band and you do miss Keith Moon's contribution, however not all is lost as there are some excellent songs, not least You Better You Bet and Don't Let Go the Coat. I have to admit that it is starting to grow on me after a few plays and it is certainly worth having if you consider yourself a fan/5().
  5. Without Keith Moon, the Who may have lacked the restless firepower that distinguished their earlier albums, but Face Dances had some of Pete Townshend's best, most incisive compositions since Quadrophenia. "Don't Let Go the Coat" was one of his better odes to Meher Baba, "You Better You Bet" was a driving rocker, as was the rueful "Cache Cache," while "How Can You Do It Alone" was a solid .
  6. (Don't let go tonight) Don't let go the coat Never let go the coat. Your friends all pass for life is just a market But you have to finish everything you started So I live my life tearing down the runway Sure to get the hang of hanging in there someday. Don't let go the coat Won't get no more chances - forget the war dances Go blind and hang on.
  7. "Don't Let Go the Coat" is a song written by Pete Townshend and first released on The Who's album Face Dances. It was released as a single following up on the first single from Face Dances, "You Better You Bet", but did not achieve the same success, reaching number 47 in the UK and number 84 in the US. It has also been released on several compilation albums, and Pete Townshend himself.
